Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
I have been a licensed attorney since 2004, however, I have been in practice for myself since 2006.
What is your primary product or service?
Family Law is my primary focus, however, I do all aspects of Criminal Law (including Juvenile Law), Business Law and Probate Law.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I decided to become an attorney later in my career. Before becoming an attorney, I was a banker. I enjoyed that line of work. However, in 1996, my father, who was also self-employed, was sued by a local school district using the laws of eminent domain. Eminent Domain is the law that allows a government or government entity to attempt to take away your land for their use. This lawsuit upset me and so I decided to quit my job and go back to school to become a lawyer. I believed that hard working people shouldn't have to fight this alone. I have been trying to make a difference ever since.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
I am honest. I will not take your case for the sake of making myself money. I am straight-forward and practical. Coming from a working-class background has given me an appreciation for how hard we work for our money. I strive to bill my client's conservatively and to offer them the most practical advice possible-not only to win their case, but to save them money, if possible. I work extremely hard for my clients. I take their matters very personally. You aren't just another paycheck to me.
